Next Wednesday, June 29th, the fourth roundtable of the series of dialogue spaces "Metaverse: the opportunities of the future", organized by the Eon Resilience Lab of C Minds and Meta, will be held to explore the opportunities and challenges of the metaverse in Latin America. This session seeks to explore specific social aspects of the metaverse, such as the issues of digital identity, freedom of expression and inclusion, from a Latin American perspective.

The event will be held through the Zoom platform and the dialogues will be in Spanish. To attend, those interested should register at bit.ly/Metaversoespacio4. It will also be streamed live on the C Minds website.

The speakers who will be participating are: Elena Estavillo, General Director at Centro-i para la Sociedad del Futuro (Mexico) // Enrique Siqueiros, Professor of Philosophy at Universidad Panamericana (Mexico) // Juan Gustavo Corvalán, Director of the Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Lab at the Law School of the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) // Karina Pedace, Executive Secretary of UNESCO's Network of Women Philosophers of Latin America (Argentina) // Claudia Del Pozo, Director of the Eon Resilience Lab at C Minds (Mexico).

The initiative "Metaverse: the opportunities of the future" consists of six broadcasts, which bring together international experts to reflect, from a Latin American perspective, on the possibilities and challenges of the metaverse from the fields of extended reality, law, artificial intelligence, economics, philosophy and human rights, among others.

The third space, which brought together almost 250 people from 23 countries, was held on June 8 and analyzed the main global challenges that will arise from the development and deployment of the metaverse. Governance, privacy, data, security, interoperability and infrastructure were discussed. Regarding connectivity challenges, Paola Cicero, general director of the Office of Commissioner Javier Juarez at the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) of Mexico, mentioned that "infrastructure is a fundamental issue for the development of the metaverse. It is important to make the necessary investment to modernize the current infrastructure and close the gap in terms of connectivity, affordability and appropriation", she added that "in Mexico and in all countries, a very important link is the participation of the government so that these technologies reach all urban spaces".
